Project night was well attended with twenty-five returning members and one new member.  Welcome to Harold Christopher who brings valuable project management skills to the Code for Boulder teams!

IMG_0506The Trends Online team held their second meeting with eleven members attending.  Geri Mitchell-Brown and Becky Boone are leading the project. Geri is a co-captain of Code for Boulder and the Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Rally Software.  Becky is an experienced software engineer and a Senior Fellow with Code for America.  The team is currently in the Discovery Phase where they will identify customer needs, use cases and potential solutions.

IMG_0509With the help of Meredith Dutlinger,  who is a GIS specialist from Boulder County Parks and Open Space,  the Trailsy team compared renderings of Boulder County ArcGIS trails with those produced by Trailsy.  The team also worked on setting up a static website for their application.

The Fruit Rescue team has pivoted, deciding to use Meteor and React as their Javascript software platform.  Meteor is a good solution for future design decisions and will be easier for developers to come up to speed on.

The Permit Planning team reviewed wire frames developed by Amanda Lenz , who brings a wealth of  design and illustration experience to the team.  The team is involved with a wide range of technologies, including Meteor, Node.js, JavaScript, CartoDB, GIS, Facebook API, and MongoDB.

Geri and Suzi from our leadership team, along with Becky Boone will be attending the Code for America Summit in Oakland, California this week.  The conference brings together Code for America Brigades, governments and others interested in civic technology, to share information and learn about ways to support and improve their communities.  Becky will present a workshop on Civic Engagement, entitled Low Tech Ways to Expand Reach in Your Community.
